About Shumway Ranch

About

About

About

Located in the Santa Rosa & San Jacinto Mountains National Monument, Shumway Ranch is an historic homestead on 640 acres of pristine conservation lands pioneered by Steve and Nina Paul Shumway in 1932, and ultimately purchased by the State of California in 2017 for environmental, historical, cultural, and local community benefit purposes.

About

About

In 2018, Coachella Valley Mountain Conservancy, a resource agency of the State of California, contracted with Daniel Foster to form a new volunteer-based nonprofit, Shumway Ranch.Org, to partner on the planning and development of the historic homestead ranch.  Since then, SRO produced over 40 programs/projects and established a successful operating/program model as a precedent for the future.

About

In 2023/24, CVMC developed additional operating partnerships with the Desert Recreation District and the Friends of the Desert Mountains to produce educational programs and rental opportunities.

In early 2025, Shumway Ranch.Org closed for business due to the retirement of its founder, Daniel Foster - after a 7 year effort to vision, plan, and develop the ranch.
